700hp Crate Engine – Mustang Swap
Here’s a look at the impressive cart-horse tough 4.6L Aluminator Engine from Ford Racing. This engine has been around a few years now and proven itself on the track throughout the past few Drift Racing season. Introduced in 2006, this engine was putting down 610hp to the rear wheels and there wasn’t one engine related failure the entire season.
The engine – complete with supercharger and everything needed – is now delivered with 700hp and 550 lb-ft of torque, and cost around $6700. Not a bad price for a supercharged Mustang engine swap. (*Updated- sorry for the misinformation – At the SEMA Show I had been told the price included the supercharger, after a reader queried the price, I researched it and found the info was incorrect.)
Lightweight Ford Racing Power Plant
The block and heads, as the name suggests, are aluminum. The block alone drops 65lb of weight compared to the cast iron modular blocks but it’s still able to put down that huge horsepower and offer reliability because it’s put together with heavy duty Ford Racing performance parts that include a steel crank, h-beam steel rods, and forged pistons.
This set up also features four-valve Ford Racing Performance heads, Ford Racing Performance cams, and a 2.3L Ford Racing twin-screw supercharger.
Under the supercharger sits a Variable Length Runner Intake Manifold and features Sequential Multiport Fuel Injection. It’s also worth noting the package is available in a short block or long block configuration.
