Lexus Supercar

Here’s a look at the production ready LF-A. Lexus have been taunting us with this supercar at auto show after auto show for close to five years now, and finally we get to see the version that should be on sale early in 2011. It’s pretty close to the version seen darting around Nurburgring last month.

Nurburgring Prototype

The prototype that hit the Ring at the end of last month had headlight/taillight covers and was seen with a rear spoiler, which will be a retractable wing, seen in the video clip they released at the unveiling. Another difference spotted, the over-the-top glass roof not seen on the track but appeared on the Tokyo offering.

Specs

The rear wheel drive beast will sport a 4.8 liter V10 and deliver 552hp with 354lb-ft of torque delivered through a six-speed sequential gearbox. Details state the 3,263lb car will reach 62mph from a standstill in 3.7 seconds, and reach a top speed of 202mph.

Not for Profit

Here’s the truly mind-boggling part. There will be 500 of these supercars constructed and sold for $375,000, yet Lexus claim they will take a loss on each vehicle. That’s nearly $19 million dollars for 500 cars.
