Bargaining Chip Redeemable Against Pontiac and Saturn
As GM continue to move towards killing off appendages like Saturn and Pontiac you already have the advantage when negotiating on the purchase of a dying brand, but new information just surfacing actually gives you an extra bargaining chip or two.
Work The Numbers
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that General Motors will be giving dealers $7,000 in cash for each new 2009 Saturn and Pontiac sold between now and January 4th 2010. That’s $7,000 that you can ask for, off the price of a vehicle, on top of any existing offers they are running. A G5 could cost you as little as $10,000, a G3 could go for under $8,000, or a G6 Sedan under $14,000.
The downside is that this deal only works if the dealer takes ownership of the vehicle as part of their loaner vehicle fleet first and then sells it on, which is common practice for dealerships, but the vehicle then becomes a used car and that may affect you’re financing interest rate. That said another perk we see is that you can purchase the vehicle as a certified used vehicle and that often comes with a better warranty than the original new car purchase.
