H1, or is that H-150

Francois Couture of Quebec, decided 4 years ago that he wanted his own Hummer H1. That must have been a strange sensation for the self proclaimed Ford nut. Unable, and probably unwilling, to pay the $100,000+ msrp he decided to fabricate his own. That’s right, Francois decided he would build his own H1 and now has the best of both worlds. This may look like the AMG version, but it’s not. It’s a salvaged Ford version. This H1, or H150 as it’s been called, is built on the the frame of an old ’87 F150, powered by a donated E350 engine from a shuttle van, and sports other component swaps all from Fords.

The most impressive part of this story though is that Couture built the body from scratch. He taught himself to weld, and not just a 6 weeks of night class kind of welding, but really learnt to weld like a professional. He fabricated the entire body from plans of the AMG vehicle. He did this on a sheet metal bending machine he also built himself for the job.

This guy is amazing. The vehicle I’m not so sure of, Canadian built and Ford parts?!? Joking aside I’m super impressed with his determination. Check out Autoblog.com for more photos of the build.
