Replacing 6.3L N/A V8 By 2011
Mercedes Benz AMG confirmed yesterday they plan to swap out the naturally aspirated 6.3L utilized under the hood of the AMG for a 5.5L twin-turbo. They plan to improve on the current power numbers of 520hp and 440lb-ft possible with the current set-up, but haven’t released any estimates, hinting we can expect a better idea by the time the Paris Motor Show rolls around in September, and the possibility the new engine could be standard equipment by the end of next year.
