Formula One – But Not With Ferrari

Freshly implanted in our inbox, Michael Schumacher, seven-time Formula One World Drivers’ Champion, is set to come out of retirement and make a return to the driver seat of a Formula One race car.
It may only be rumor at this time but coming from Irishman and former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan we believe there must be weight behind the claim he witnessed talks between 41 year old Schumacher and Dieter Zetsche – Ross Brawn and Daimler chief executive officer.

Mercedes and Schumacher

This news suggests Jenson Button may have been pushed from Brawn GP, as he made the move to McLaren earlier this week. These talks happened three weeks ago in Abu Dhabi.

‘It started with a meeting between Michael, Ross Brawn and Daimler chief executive officer Dieter Zetsche at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
‘At the moment, it is not possible for Michael to drive for Mercedes because he has a consultancy contract with Ferrari.’ ‘But I understand he was due to meet Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo with a view to him being released and that it will be approved because it is in the interests of F1.’ – Eddie Jordan

Mercedes, Ferrari, and Schumacher Desire

If all the ducks are lined up in a row in time, the deal would supposedly offer a one-year contract to the German Icon for the same money Button was offered.
It’s been suspected Schumacher may have regrets over retiring, and has possibly been considering a comeback since pressed on the subject back in August about the possibility of stepping in for, then injured, Felipe Massa. Michael made this comment to the media,

‘I was really positively surprised and thrilled by the reaction of everyone in the team and outside. It makes me think.’ ‘Though I am retired, I felt back in that life for a short period.’he chose his words carefully, saying: ‘Speculation in this business is normal. I’m very disappointed not to be able to race for now due to my neck. ‘That’s all I am thinking about. Please understand that I don’t want to say anything more.’
