250-ft Jump in Subaru
Since Travis Pastrana showed up as a teen in the X-Games he’s consistently thumbed his nose at the laws of gravity, and here he continues to plug his ears, close his eyes and ‘la-la-la-la-la-la’ at Newton’s theory as he practices for a New Years Eve record breaking jump that will see him launch his Red Bull sponsored Subaru Impreza from the Pine St. Pier, Long Beach California, and hopefully land on a barge floating 250-ft away in the middle of the harbor.
“The first jump was awesome man!” Pastrana exclaimed, as he explains how the Subaru had more power than he expected it too, but the second jump wipes the ecstatic smile off his face as he stands, hands on hips, cringing at the horizontal right rear wheel tucked neatly under the fender and the realization that “as it turns out, it’s very difficult to jump a car” sets in.
